Save-A-Pet Offers Free Sterilizations for Feral Felines

To humanely manage feral cat populations in the community, Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, Inc., located at Port Jefferson Station, NY, provides free spay/neuter surgeries, rabies vaccinations and de-worming for feral felines living in Bohemia, New York, thanks to a $20,000 grant from PetSmart Charities®. The grant will provide 500 needed surgeries for feral cats that are living along Veterans Memorial Highway (Route 454) between Sycamore Avenue and the Long Island Expressway.

An appointment is necessary for feral felines, and they must be brought into the clinic in a humane trap. All feral felines will have the tip of their ear removed during their spay/neuter surgery and while under general anesthesia to indicate they have been sterilized.

Save-A-Pet offers low cost spay/neuter, F.I.V and Leukemia testing and vaccines for feral and domestic cats to the public. Save-A-Pet is a 501[c]3 organization that relies on grant funding and donations to offer free to continue services for pet owners in the community. For more information, or to make an appointment, please call (631) 473-6333 or visit www.saveapetli.org.
