Karl Reamer, president of Act1Entertainment.net, presented Save-A-Pet Founder/President Dori Scofield with a check in the amount of $2,500. The money was raised during the “Banding Together Against Puppy Mills” event held on October 20. The proceeds will be used for the care of “puppy mill” dogs that have been deemed “no longer useful for breeding.”

“Banding Together Against Puppy Mills” is a volunteer effort by Act 1 Entertainment’s Brothers and Sisters, a touring group that performs at area venues for those less fortunate than themselves. Save-A-Pet and Act1Entertainment.Net joined together with four Long Island venues — The Blue Parrot Lounge, Candy’s Magic Pub, O’Brien’s Ale House, and The Village Idiot Pub — to increase knowledge about the plight of puppy mill dogs used for breeding purposes and the deplorable conditions in which they are kept. Puppy mills supply pet stores with puppies for retail sale.
