Mutts & Merlot

Steve Kruger of Rocky Point receives kisses from Brooklyn, a stray pit bull he adopted from Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, Inc. at the shelter’s third annual “Mutts & Merlot” event, which was held August 2 at the Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard.

Mutts & Merlot Event Raises $5,000

Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, Inc. held its third annual “Mutts & Merlot” event at the Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard on Friday, August 2. The event raised approximately $5,000, which will benefit the many orphaned animals awaiting homes at Save-A-Pet.

“Mutts & Merlot” was sponsored by The Birzon Law Group and featured a tasting of select wines from the vineyard, hors d’oeuvres, raffles, and live music, courtesy of Holiday Road. Animals that are available for adoption from Save-A-Pet also joined in on the festivities, with one lucky pit bull getting adopted on the spot!

“Normally, we have an application and approval process for all of our animals, but Steve Kruger and his family are longtime friends and supporters of Save-A-Pet and have given a wonderful home to a few of our orphaned companion animals over the years,” said Save-A-Pet Founder/President Dori Scofield. “A New York City police officer found this four-month-old pit bull tied up and abandoned in Brooklyn, hence her name. Her owner was subsequently arrested. Now she’ll have a loving, forever home with a great family. That’s what this event is all about.”
